Many of your committees have supported the Resolution Calling for Full Funding of the Foundation Budget Review Commission’s Recommendations. This meeting is an opportunity to bring the issue to the next level by discussing with Legislators how we can work together to make adequate, equitable and reliable funding a reality in Massachusetts.
We are very pleased that Representative Alice Peisch and Representative John Rogers will be joining our panel. Representative Peisch is Co-chair of the Joint Committee on Education. She was also Co-Chair of the Foundation Budget Review Commission. Representative Rogers is a member of the Joint Committee on Education. He has filed a bill, HD4531, An Act Strengthening Public Education in the Commonwealth, which would legislate implementation of the Foundation Budget Review Commission’s recommendations.
John Robertson, Director of the Massachusetts Municipal Association’s Legislative Division, will also be joining the panel. The MMA had representation on the FBRC. Because Chapter 70 often represents the largest component of local aid, the MMA is also a strong advocate of adequate, equitable and reliable funding for education.
The new model for Superintendent Evaluation in Massachusetts can seem cumbersome and overwhelming. Done well, it can be an effective tool in moving your district forward. In this workshop, we’ll dissect the various components of the evaluation model. We’ll discuss how to plan and implement the evaluation cycle in a way that meets your district’s needs and keeps the process simple and manageable.
Along with your questions, you are encouraged to bring your own examples of superintendent goals that have either worked well or have not for the group to discuss.
Cosponsored by Divisions IV and VIII
The focus of this session will be to follow up on the conversation from our September session. We will discuss and distribute materials on a Student Prevention Assessment Survey, a Parent Survey, a sample newsletter and a sample Safe Homes directory done in collaboration with the PTO.
We will also have a candid conversation about the impact to our students, faculty and staff this health crisis has created. No community has been spared, and we must work together to respond effectively.
