This session will focus on strategies the Chair can use when faced with a divided Committee, or a single member who refuses to support the decision of the majority.

Do you as a school committee member realize how you can positively impact student achievement? This session will focus on 10 steps every school committee can take to focus your discussions on student achievement.

This workshop will include a discussion of the Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness or College & Careers (PARCC) program. DESE Staff members Bob Bickerton, Senior Associate Commissioner and Maureen LaCroix, Management Consultant for Strategic Planning will lead a discussion of Massachusetts' participation to date and the upcoming field testing this Spring. There will also be time for those in the field to comment on their experiences with the process, as well as a concluding Question and Answer section.
